Benfica, exonerated Bruno Lage: Jose Mourinho on the way.

Benfica’s resounding home thud against Qarabag (2-3) in its opening match in the Champions League has cost coach Bruno Lage dearly, who has been relieved, as announced by President Rui Costa at a press conference.
“We have reached an agreement with Bruno Lage for him to leave his position as Benfica coach ’stressed the Eagles’ number one after the defeat to the Azeris. “I thank him for everything he has done for our club, but we feel it is time for a change”.
The Portuguese club has reportedly already decided on a new coach: it is Jose Mourinho, who would return to the Benfica bench 25 years after the last time. According to reports from ‘A Bola’, contacts have intensified in recent hours and the two sides aim to close the deal as early as Wednesday.
The Special One’s adventure with the Eagles should start as early as next Saturday, when Benfica will be away against AFS in the sixth day of Liga Portugal.
