Champions League 2025-2026: Ajax-Inter, the likely lineups
Reduced from a thrilling journey to the semifinals in the Champions League 2024-2025, before the very hard lesson suffered by PSG in the final act of the competition in Munich, Inter returns to Europe’s most important stage and does so at the home of a club with a great European tradition, Ajax of Amsterdam.
Guided on the bench by John Heitinga, Ajax is coming off a positive start to the season, especially at home, where they have so far made it three out of three in the league by beating Telstar, Heracles and Zwolle. In the latter game a former player of the evening, Davy Klaassen, was among the likely starting eleven in a match that will see him face a club where he has failed to make his mark.
On the other side, Cristian Chivu confirms his confidence in Yann Sommer despite the four goals he conceded in the ‘crazy’ 4-3 Stadium win over Juventus. To try to boost morale after the two league defeats in a row, however, the Romanian coach has several changes in mind, the most important of which concerns the’attack: Lautaro Martinez is slumped, in front could be Pio Esposito.
