Davis Cup, Angelo Binaghi cuts short on Jannik Sinner’s presence

On the sidelines of the Davis Cup quarterfinal draw, the president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, Angelo Binaghi, answered questions from reporters who asked him, in particular, if he was able to confirm already now the presence of the Italian number 1 (and current world number 2) Jannik Sinner at the Final Eight in Bologna.
“I think that, sending two more months, it is too early to say already who will be there or not, but it is a problem of all teams, Spain could say the same thing about Alcaraz – said Binaghi -. Jannik has been our dragger in the last two editions, he has already shown that he is attached to the blue jersey and the values that these colors represent”.
“Similar discourse can be made for Musetti– added the Federtennis top executive -I hope Lorenzo can have a great season finale, we want to see him at the Finals as well. We as a federation, together with the captain Volandri, are in close contact with the teams of our tennis players, we will help them make the best decision for them and for Italian tennis”.
“The presence of Sinner, Alcaraz, Musetti and all the others, beyond anything else, will depend on what happens in these two months, now it is too early for confirmations” reiterated Binaghi. Italy, the No. 1 seed in the Final Eight, will face Austria in the quarterfinals and possibly, in the semifinals, the winner of France-Belgium. The’cross with Spain will only be possible in the final on Nov. 23.
