Matteo Franzoso, state funeral Tuesday

Tuesday, September 23, at 4 p.m., inside the church of Sant’Edoardo in Sestriere (Turin) will be held the state funeral of Matteo Franzoso, the member of the National Alpine Ski Team, belonging to the Yellow Flames Sports Group, who lost his life on Monday 15 from the consequences of a dramatic fall in training that occurred two days earlier in La Parva, Chile.

The body of Matteo Franzoso will arrive in Italy on Monday, 22: it will be transferred from Milan to Sestriere and received in the funeral chamber set up in the church of Sant’Edoardo. The rosary will be celebrated at 8:30 p.m. Monday. As confirmed by Fisi, after the funeral, the casket will reach Sauze di Cesana, the place where Franzoso resided with his family. He will be buried at the cemetery of the’ancient church of San Restituto in the Susa Valley resort. Access will be restricted to the family.

Contemporaneously, the Federation and its president, Flavio Roda, announced that the activities of all the disciplines related to Fisi will stop for the day on Tuesday, Sept. 23, to pay tribute to Matteo Franzoso and show closeness to the family of the unfortunate athlete who passed away a day before his 26th birthday.
