Japan Open: Luciano Darderi wins marathon match with Yoshihito Nishioka

Stronger than pressure and fatigue. Luciano Darderi advances to the round of 16 in Tokyo, site of the Japan Open. The’Italian, number 30 in the ATP rankings, got rid of the’hostile Yoshihito Nishioka in two sets (7-6, 6-3) at the end of a challenge that lasted over two hours.

A hard-fought first set resolved in the tie-break with Luciano Darderi winning 11-9. In the second partial, the Italian was good at handling the Japanese player&#8217s attempt to come back, closing 6-3 and thus winning a decidedly heavy victory.

The Italian was able to win the second set.

At this point, in the round of 16, the Azure will face Jenson Brooksby who won, surprisingly, the match with world number 24 Ugo Humbert: 7-6 6-3 the partials of the match. A challenge that, at least on paper, seems absolutely within the reach of the Italian tennis player.

As far as the men’s draw is concerned, not at all easy success for Taylor Fritz. The American, the No. 2 seed in the Japan Open (Carlos Alcaraz is the No. 1 seed) got rid of Canadian Gabriel Diallo after three hard-fought sets: 4-6, 6-3 and 7-3 victory in the decisive tie-break. Shimabukuro Sho’s win over Thomas Machac (No. 4 on the scoreboard). The Japanese took home the victory in two sets (6-3, 7-6 the match’s partials).
