An award to the whole of Italian cycling: this is how Cordiano Dagnoni, president of the Italian Cycling Federation, welcomes the decision of the Uci, the world federation, which assigned to Italy the 2031 Road and Track World Championships, to be held in Trentino, the 2029 Cyclocross World Championships (Treviso) and the 2030 Marathon World Championships (Val Gardena).

“With these allocations the Uci has rewarded not only the individual bids, but the entire Italian movement– said Dagnoni -. Italy is confirmed as one of the world centers of cycling, capable of bringing together the warmth of our communities, the passion of our fans, the beauty of the territories, the excellence of our products and the competence of our managers”.

“I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in these months, starting with the organizing companies, local authorities and institutions, who have all worked for a common goal. What awaits us in the coming years will be a crescendo of emotions that add to the historic events already celebrated, such as the departures of the Tour and Vuelta or the recent editions of the Giro d’Italia. The climax of this climax will surely be the 2031 World Cup: beautiful, challenging, exciting. Real Olympics of our sport, able to focus the world’s attention on an area, the Northeast, which has always been the cradle of cycling”.

“These appointments, in addition to being a recognition, are also an’exhortation to continue on the road taken and a commitment to accelerate those interventions necessary so that they can leave a permanent legacy to the country. I am thinking in particular of the construction of the Spresiano Velodrome and safety interventions. The Federation will do everything to ensure that our athletes arrive in the best condition, to honor worthily this important event. Therefore, we hope for adequate support from all political and sports institutions in this journey.”
