Max Verstappen officially in Ferrari, but not in Formula 1. At least for now: the four-time world champion, who has confirmed his stay with Red Bull for the foreseeable future, will actually pilot a Ferrari car as early as this Saturday. It is a 296, at the wheel of which the Dutch star will race at the Nürburgring in his official debut in the GT3 covered-wheel championship. This, however, could be an opportunity to put something else in the pot as well.

Verstappen has in fact already tested his GT3 car at the Mugello circuit, which as he knows is owned by Ferrari. There he worked closely for the first time with engineers under contract with the Cavallino, and according to ‘Sky Sport’ the first direct approach between the two parties would go very well. Leaving one to imagine that the collaboration may even continue, at some yet undetermined future day.

In particular, Verstappen would have shown the Ferrari men all his professionalism and also curiosity in knowing every detail of the car he will accompany to the 4 Hours of Nürburgring, his first professional approach to the world of endurance’endurance. But also to that of Maranello, which for the first time he breathed up close.

Clearly in Formula 1 Ferrari there is no place for him until 2027, and even his contract with Red Bull will not expire before the end of the 2026 championship. The feeling at ‘Sky Sport’ however, is that of a dialogue that has opened thanks to GT3 and could continue tomorrow. This time with a view to the top formula.
