Bitter outburst on Instagram for Italian marcher Antonella Palmisano: the Apulian athlete, silver at the World Championships in Tokyo, harshly attacked European Athletics for forgetting marching in the list of Tokyo 2025 medals.

“Athletics and Federation communications officers reposted a Birmingham post announcing the 2026 European Championships and, once again, among the Tokyo 2025 medals mine is not there.
Promptly, after my call to the President and thanks to his intervention this post was removed”.

“This is not the first time. It is always like this. My discipline is ignored, my victories erased as if they never existed. I am tired. Tired of my silent medals, of a march treated as a second-class sport, of a DT who forgets to mention my medal in the team report at the press conference and not even reported on the Fidal website”.

“Tired of this continuous and systematic disrespect, which is now no longer an oversight: it is a CHOICE. I won for Italy, I carried the tricolor on the podium, I gave everything every single time … and yet it seems to be worth nothing to someone. Perhaps the’then president of CONI, @giovannimalago, really understood my struggle and disappointment”.

“Well, I won&#8217t shut up anymore. I demand respect. I demand that my name and my story be remembered. Because if today Italian athletics can boast certain medals, it is also thanks to me. And those who continue to pretend not to see them should only be ashamed”.
