Milan is preparing to serve as the setting for the Stihl Timbersports World Championship 2025, the world’s most prestigious event in the sporting wood cutting discipline officially presented at a dedicated press conference. The international circuit will arrive in the Lombard capital on October 24 and 25 with its flagship competition, which will bring the country to the center of the international sports scene. The evening’s presentation of the international event saw the participation on stage of the brand’s top management, including Massimo Gallo, Stihl Italy CEO, and prominent athletes from the Stihl Timbersports circuit, such as reigning Italian Champion Michel Perrin, who will fight to win the title of world champion.

“We are here because we want to make the sport known in Italy: a sport that connects with nature and conveys authentic values of fair play. Athletes compete with great intensity, but always with mutual respect, even going so far as to help each other between different nations to improve technique. Something that doesn’t happen in any other sport – said Massimo Gallo, Stihl Italy CEO -The World Championship 2025 arrives in Milan in a special edition that coincides with the 40-year history of Stihl Timbersports: a milestone that makes this event even more significant. It will not only be a world-class sporting event, but an opportunity for the Italian public to discover up close a unique and exciting discipline capable of engaging and attracting more and more people.”

“My goal was to get to the World Cup, and I succeeded. With commitment and effort throughout the season I have achieved this goal. I feel strong pressure from the nation, because holding a World Championship at home is not like doing it abroad: in front of our public there is that extra push that motivates you and accompanies you in every competition,” commented Michel Perrin, the reigning Italian champion, for years a pillar of the Italian national team and who will also represent Italy at the Individual World Championship in Milan.

The final moment of the event was entrusted to live demonstrations by the athletes, who closed the evening in style, offering a taste of the intensity that will characterize the world competition in October. From the rhythm of the Underhand Chop to the epicness of the Springboard, the audience was able to experience the adrenaline-fueled soul up close, even experiencing firsthand the Single Buck, one of the most iconic challenges on the Stihl Timbersports circuit.

The race weekend will be held at the Allianz Cloud Arena on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25, when the best “Wood Heroes” on the planet will compete in front of about 3,000 spectators each day. 120 athletes from 20 nations are expected to compete, ready to vie for the title in two days of pure action and adrenaline. Friday, October 24, will open with the World Team Championships with knockout rounds in four iconic disciplines (Stock Saw, Single Buck, Underhand Chop and Standing Block Chop). The spotlight will be on Australia’s Chopperhoos, defending champions in the hunt for their 10th world title, and the Italian national team, ready to thrill the home crowd.

The day of Saturday, October 25, will be dedicated to the Individual Competition, which will see the 12 best athletes in the world engaged in the six tests of the Stihl Timbersports format (Stock Saw, Single Buck, Underhand Chop, Standing Block Chop, Springboard and Hot Saw) in a points competition divided into 3 rounds. This final day of competition will see national champions from Australia, the United States, Canada and New Zealand and the top eight European athletes, including Italy’s Michel Perrin, compete. The defending champion, American Nate Hodges, will defend the title he won in 2024.
