Amanda Anisimova wins WTA 1000 in Beijing

American Amanda Anisimova, after the one in Doha last February, won her second career WTA 1000 title, the China Open on Beijing’s concrete, her fourth tournament on the major circuit, beating Czech Linda Nosková in the final with a score of 6-0 2-6 6-2 in one hour and three quarters of play.

First set dominated by Anisimova who, on the other hand, in the second set immediately lost her serve, missed two consecutive counterbreak balls at 2-3, then gave up her serve once more and was forced into the deciding set.

Nosková misses a break point in the first game of the deciding partial, saves one in turn in the fourth, but from 2-2 Anisimova takes the lead for good with four consecutive games, one break point saved and two breaks in favor.

The Russian-born 24-year-old from New Jersey will be confirmed tomorrow at No. 4 in the world rankings, Nosková, on the other hand, who will turn 21 next Nov. 17, will rise from No. 27 to No. 17, six positions above her previous best ranking.
