Roma, Gian Piero Gasperini: "They give us little credit"

It’s a Gian Piero Gasperini taking some pebbles off his shoes at DAZN’s microphones after his Roma’s 2-1 away win over Fiorentina that earned the Giallorossi the lone lead at the top of the standings. Here are his words.
“The spaces were undoubtedly inviting in the final, we failed to exploit them well, with Dybala and other situations. There’was some fatigue at the end, we thought about managing it, taking the biggest risk on Gosens’s action. Piccoli instead kicked from distance, but the episodes were quite random. We risked very little, wasting a few restarts. Inactive balls? Yes, now we have to become strong on penalties” too.
“Dybala and Pellegrini are the ones with the most technical skills right now, they were also good at shutting down Fiorentina’s initiatives and giving the team a hand. They, with dribbling, were able to break up the action often, taking away Fiorentina’s continuity.”
“The attack? Ferguson has an ankle problem anyway, triggered Thursday in the match, he was not able to play. Dybala came back on Friday, did two very mild training sessions and his technique never loses it, being able to play any role in attack. In my thinking, he is a player who has to play together with an attacker in front”.
“I am very happy for the people, for the team, for the players, a reward to their performance. We went six games, some people still didn’t give us credit for being in that position, but it’s a team that can improve and grow in application and quality of play. It’s a reward for them, this win and this result, it gives us a chance to go into the break with a nice load of confidence.”
“Then we know what we have to do and we have to keep working. The big goal? The credit we have right now is not that high. We enjoy this moment and try to improve. Some people have not given us credit for being in that position yet, but it is a team that manages to improve and grow. The credit we have right now is not that high”.
