After beating Germany’s Daniel Altmaier in two sets, Jannik Sinner will play tomorrow in the third round of the Masters 1000 on Shanghai’s concrete against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, world number 31.

The match is the fourth scheduled on Stadium Court, the tournament’s main court, and will follow the one between Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, which will begin no earlier than 12:30 p.m. Italian time, so it is likely that Sinner and Griekspoor will not start before 2 to 2:30 p.m.

The record is all in favor of the 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria world number 2: six wins out of six, the last one during last year’s Davis Cup finals, 7-6 6-2 in favor of the South Tyrolean. Here are Sinner’s words after the win over Altmaier.

“I had little time since the Beijing final, I knew it would be difficult: you have to dose your strengths to get through the match. It will be important to recover, but from tomorrow I will also have to raise the level of my tennis.”

“I am glad I was able to get through this match. Daniel had beaten me the last time we met. I tried to serve well in the important moments”.
