Japanese former Serie A player seeks new challenge

Takehiro Tomiyasu is looking for a new experience: the Japanese defender is free after being released by mutual consent from Arsenal in the summer and is ready for a new adventure.
Grew up in Avispa, Tomiyasu then moved to VV Sint-Truiden in Belgium. In 2019, Bologna decided to invest 7 million to bring him to Italy, and the choice turned out to be the right one given the excellent performances churned out by the Japanese player with the Bologna club.
The Japanese player has been a good choice.
In August 2021, Arsenal paid Tomiyasu’s rescission clause and brought him to London for just under 19 million euros. After a good start to the season, the defender got injured: he had a calf problem that kept him in the pits for two months, then he had a minor relapse. He had knee surgery in March 2023, then had other muscle troubles that put him on the sidelines of the Arsenal project.
In October 2024 a new knee problem forced Tomiyasu to stop until February 2025, when he decided to have surgery for the second time. Despite numerous physical troubles, the defender feels ready for a new experience.
