Juan Cuadrado may leave Pisa in January: surprise destination

Juan Cuadrado now seems to have subscribed to the Nerazzurri colors, so much so that after having worn the Inter and Atalanta jersey from this season he wears that of Pisa. And, ironically, he began his Serie A adventure with the newly promoted Tuscan side by playing on the Orobici’s pitch at the end of September and helping to snatch a point from Juric’s team, one of the two collected to date by the group led by Alberto Gilardino.

The team’s first goal was in January.

In January, however, there could be a new turning point, and not just a chromatic one, in the career of the eclectic Colombian, who arrived in Europe back in 2009 thanks to one of the many intuitions of Udinese, a club that has always been good at sounding out the less beaten markets: for the 1988 class, Palmeiras, a Brazilian club from São Paulo that would like to bring him back to South America after so many years, would have come forward.

Born in 1988 in Necoclí, Colombia, Cuadrado has come up through the ranks. He started playing on the streets, like many South American kids, then moved on to professional soccer with Independiente Medellín. But it was in Europe that he built his real career. He arrived in Italy in 2009, at Udinese, but he really exploded in Lecce, where he began to be noticed for his speed and man-jumping ability. The consecration comes with Fiorentina: there he becomes one of the best outfielders in the A.

.

In 2015 he moved to Chelsea, but the English experience was short-lived. His style of play does not fit well with British soccer, and so he immediately returns to Italy, to Juventus. In Turin, Cuadrado finds a home. He plays seven seasons with the Bianconeri jersey, winning everything in Italy: five Scudetti, four Italian Cups, two Super Cups. He changes roles several times: from winger to fullback, from offensive outside player to fifth of midfield. Always with the same spirit. That of the player who puts himself at the service of the team.

In 2023, somewhat surprisingly, Cuadrado chose to move to Inter Milan. It was a decision that caused debate, especially because of the historic rivalry with Juventus, but he did not let the controversy distract him and went on his way. After Inter also came experiences with Atalanta and Pisa, new stages in a career full of challenges and changes, lived always as a protagonist, even with the jersey of the Colombian national team.

His debut with the Cafeteros was on September 4, 2010, in a friendly match in Puerto La Cruz against Venezuela: a match won 2-0, in which he also scored his first goal with the national team, unlocking the result. Between 2022 and 2023 he played his last matches with Colombia, closing the chapter with 116 appearances and 11 goals to his credit.
