Riccardo Patrese points out what Ferrari’s real problem is

Riccardo Patrese told Escapist Magazine about Ferrari’s problems: “There is no one who has the position that Adrian Newey had in Red Bull or that Andrea Stella has in McLaren.”
“Newey has always been a genius in understanding aerodynamics and the ability to turn rules into opportunities,” added l’ex-driver, “while in McLaren there is a consistency of method and leadership that makes all the difference. In Ferrari, on the other hand, there is still a lack of someone who is the balance point between departments, who dictates the technical line and motivates the team.”
“Vasseur is doing a good job in rebuilding the mentality of the team, but it needs strong technical leadership, someone who can dictate timing and strategy without hesitation. Ferrari, by tradition and media pressure, often tends to look too much inward and change course before a project really matures.”
“Betting everything on the future is a logical choice, but it must be done with a solid structure and recognized technical leadership. Only in this way will Ferrari be able to return to stable competition for the world title, not in spurts, but with the consistency that distinguishes true great teams”, he concluded.
