Carlos Alcaraz for a day “gives up” tennis to focus on golf. The world No. 1 joined compatriot Jon Rahm in Madrid to promote the Spanish Open Pro-Am golf tournament.

Alcaraz, who withdrew at the Shanghai Masters due to a left ankle problem, played nine holes. His friend-rival Jannik Sinner has also already dropped out of the tournament in China.

For Rahm, a two-time Major winner (U.S. Open 2021 and Masters 2023) and former No. 1 in his sport, this is his first exit since winning with the Europe theme in the Ryder Cup.

Alcaraz will return to the tennis court next week at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Oct. 15-18.
