Ettore Messina resigns (but not from Olimpia)

The Federal Council of the FIP, chaired by Giovanni Petrucci, was held in Rome at the Salone d’Onore of CONI.

In the opening, the Federal President presented the Palme d’Or for technical merit to Aldo Corno, among the most successful coaches and Technical Commissioner of the Senior Women’s National Team at three different times (1985-91, 1994-95 and 1999-04). President Petrucci then presented the CONI Silver Star for sporting merit to Massimo Protani, president of the Women’s Basketball League, and the CONI Gold Star for sporting merit to Antonino Rescifina, a member of FIBA Foundation’s Cultural Heritage Committee.

Coach Ettore Messina has resigned as President of the National Coaches Committee and as Director of the Technical Sector. The Federal Council has appointed Coach Andrea Capobianco as extraordinary commissioner of the NAC.
