Lorenzo Musetti&#8217s adventure at the Shanghai Masters 1000 stopped in the round of 16. The Carrara native, No. 8 in the seedings and No. 9 in the ATP rankings, surrendered in two sets (4-6 2-6) to Felix Auger Aliassime, No. 12 in the seedings and No. 13 in the rankings, in one hour and 25 minutes of play.

The balance in the first partial lasted only a short time: in the fifth game, the Canadian rose to the forehand and harpooned the break (3-2). L’Azzurro has three immediate counter-break chances but Aliassime saves himself and preserves the lead until the final 6-4.

In the second set Felix snatches the serve from Musetti in the fifth game, as in the first partial, going up from 40-0 in favor of the Carrarino: it is a break that hurts for the Azure who can no longer win a game and thus has to say goodbye to the ‘Rolex Shanghai Masters’.

Aliassime, on the other hand, flies to the quarterfinals and narrows the gap with Musetti in the Race: the Canadian is now at 2905 points, 530 points away from the Azzurro, and can continue to hope for a place at the next ATP Finals.
