After visiting the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale, Paola Egonu, the two coaches and members of the men’s and women’s national volleyball teams, both of which won the World Cup, were guests of Bruno Vespa on “Porta a Porta,” which will be aired tonight.

Egonu once again returned to the issue of racism: “Sports teaches us that together, with our differences, we can create a better world. Compared to then, something has changed for the better,” Paola said.

“We can see steps forward thanks to our successes, like at the’European Basketball Championships this summer or even at the recent World Championships in athletics. Sports teaches us that together, with our differences, we can create a better world,” continued the blue opposite.

Men’s coach Ferdinando De Giorgi, on the other hand, tried to “hold back” Simone Anzani, who announced his retirement from the national team: “‘I am the coach, I make the convocations. He has expressed a desire, no?”… Meanwhile he plays, then when it will be in a few months we will see”.

“It is difficult to say goodbye to the national team – continues FefĂ©– and as long as one plays he always has this great desire for this jersey. His situation is particular but being the coach I tell him, ‘play in the meantime, then when it is in a few months we will see.’ I don&#8217t want to put pressure on him. We want him on the field. Clearly I will call his wife first: I already know what she will tell me”.
