Jasmine Paolini has qualified for the quarters of the “Dongfeng-Voyah Wuhan Open”, the last WTA 1000 tournament of the season being played on the concrete courts in Wuhan, China.

The world No. 8, fresh from the quarters in Beijing, emerged victorious from her match with Denmark’s Clara Tauson, who withdrew at the score of 3-6 6-1 3-1 for the Italian, after an hour and 35 minutes of play, due to a right thigh problem.

“I feel very sorry for Clara, she was playing a good match but she was really struggling. I hope she can recover quickly” said Jasmine Paolini in the heat of the match.

“I was trying to stay in the match point by point because she was able to shoot winners from every position and I just tried to stay in the match as long as I could” concluded the Tuscan, who thus also took a step towards the WTA Finals.
