Verona soccer marketplace: Roberto Gagliardini has come back from peculiar months, from the summer that began as a free agent to signing with the Scaligeri only to stop almost immediately due to an injury that also reduced him to tears. Hence the question of whether, having ended his experience at Monza, he had reasoned about a possible retirement.

He himself spoke about it in an interview with ’Gazzetta dello Sport’ assuring that he had no intention of saying goodbye to soccer. In the knowledge, however, that such a scenario could also have materialized. “I am 31 years old, so retirement was not on my mind. But I was reflecting on the fact that in Serie A there were few possibilities, while the Serie B lists were full” said Gagliardini.

Faced with another option, that of going to play far from Italy, Gagliardini was very clear: “When you have to go outside you have to reason about the family, the children. You have to figure out where to enroll them in school, what future to prepare for them. What if I had moved to Australia? I would have gone alone or with my whole family. So many dynamics lead you to stay a little bit’ on the fence, but then Verona came along”.

A call that for Gagliardini appeared similar to a real liberation: “This summer was not easy for me. I couldn&#8217t find a team, I was training alone. These are moments that make you stronger, but you score. In the end I arrived in a square full of ambition and that I already feel is mine. That&#8217s the most important aspect. It reminds me of my home, Bergamo, there too there are warm fans and attached to the jersey. Those born there cheer for Atalanta, those born here cheer for Verona. And I know what it entails to play for such a team”.
