In Wuhan Jessica Pegula beats Aryna Sabalenka and goes to the final

World No. 6 Jessica Pegula of the United States beat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in a comeback in the second semifinal of the WTA 1000 on the Chinese cement of Wuhan with a score of 2-6 6-4 7-6 in two hours and 20 minutes of play.
In the first set there are as many as six breaks and only Sabalenka manages to hold serve, in the very long third game, in which she succeeds at the sixth break ball opportunity after saving a break ball, and in the seventh.
In the second set, Pegula goes 2-0 up, then gets her serve back at 2-2, and then, in the seventh game, she breaks the queen of tennis: this is the decisive stretch of the partial, in which there were “only” three breaks.
In the deciding set Sabalenka twice goes ahead by a break, first 2-0 and then 5-2, she also serves for the match on 5-3 but gets overrun on 6-5, Pegula in the next game has a match point but eventually gives up the serve again.
Everything is decided in the tie-break, which is dominated by Pegula 7-2. In the final, Pegula will face in an all-U.S. derby compatriot Coco Gauff, who got the better of Jasmine Paolini in the first semifinal.
