Matteo Berrettini flies to the round of 16 of the ATP 250 tournament in Stockholm, getting the better of Giulio Zeppieri in an all-Italian challenge. The 29-year-old from Rome needed only about one hour and 20 minutes of play to get the better of his compatriot (and fellow countryman), folded in two sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2. Frenchman Ugo Humbert awaits him in the next round.

For Berrettini, the match started in the best of ways, with a service break from Zeppieri already in the first game. The 2001-born left-hander, however, manages to even the score at 2-2 and it looks like the set could be settled at the tie-break.

Much easier was his task in the next set, which saw Berrettini speed up when the scoreboard read 2-2. After four fast and balanced games, in fact, the Roman accelerated, took two breaks, and brought home all four final games, leaving Zeppieri with just five points in all.

The Roman’s lead was a good one.

A nice rematch then for Berrettini, who after Wimbledon (where he had gone out against Kamil Majchrzak of Poland even at the 64th finals) had been defeated by Dalibor Svricina at the 16th round of the tournament in Hangzhou, China, by Casper Ruud at the round of 16 in Tokyo and by Adrian Mannarino in Shanghai, also at the 64th finals.
