The start of the Superleague, Italy&#8217s top men&#8217s volleyball series, is now just days away. The first day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, with the 12 participating teams competing in six matches all scheduled at the same time, at 6 p.m. Among the most ambitious realities is Vero Volley Monza, which wants to forget a disappointing season, which ended with a salvation reached at the photofinish.

The Lombard club has reinforced, in particular, in the role of libero, signing Leonardo Scanferla, 2022 world champion with the national team and winner in 2023 of the Coppa Italia with the Piacenza jersey, a club he represented from 2019 until last summer. “The’beginning of the championship is now close, there’s a lot of desire to do well” said the class of 1998 to the club&#8221s official channels.

“Last weekend, at the Astori Trophy (which Vero Volleyball finished third by beating Padua in five sets in the final, ed.), we showed some good things and it is our intention to continue on that path” added the libero who, in addition to the rainbow gold, also boasts the European silver, won in 2023 with the Azzurri.

Twelve teams are participating in the Superleague 2025-2026, as they did last year: holding the title is Trentino, which beat Lube Civitanova in the championship final. The other entrants are Perugia, Piacenza, Powervolley Milano, Verona, M&G Grottazzolina, Modena, Cisterna, Padova, Vero Volley Monza and newly promoted Cuneo. The top eight from the regular season will play the playoffs for the scudetto, the teams from ninth to 11th place those for the final fifth position while the last will relegate to A2.
