Jannik Sinner dreams of a film about his life with… Will Smith

What if one day a movie about Jannik Sinner really came along? The idea is not that far from reality: with a career yet to be written but already full of accomplishments and inspiration, it’s easy to imagine that sooner or later someone would want to bring the story of the blue man to the big screen. Already, between documentaries, specials and books dedicated to him, there is no shortage of material. And so, during the Six Kings Slam, someone asked Jannik, between the serious and the facetious, who he would like to see play him in a hypothetical biopic.
After a moment’s thought, the world number 2 replied with his usual disarming smile, “I would say … Will Smith, why not.”
An unsettling and funny answer, which immediately ignited the imagination of fans. Indeed, juxtaposing the actor from Bad Boys and the landmark sitcom Willy, the Prince of Bel-Air with a shy, northern boy like Sinner is not an everyday occurrence. Yet that very distance makes the joke all the more brilliant.
Making it all the more curious was Will Smith himself, who jumped at the chance to respond. With a story on Instagram, he posted a photomontage in which his face stands out on the photo of Sinner raising the Wimbledon trophy, accompanied by an ironic “I’m in!” A social skit that made the tennis world smile.
