Lando Norris was the fastest in the only free practice session of the U.S. Grand Prix at the Austin circuit.
His teammate and world leader Oscar Piastri is third at 279 thousandths and between the two McLarens is the Kick Sauber of Nico Hulkenberg, second at 255 thousandths.
Fourth Fernando Alonso in the Tyrrell, fifth Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, sixth Alexander Albon in the Williams, seventh George Russell in the Mercedes, his teammate Kimi Antonelli, fresh from contract renewal as he is, 18th.
The Ferraris: eighth Lewis Hamilton while a very angry Charles Leclerc is 20th and last due to gearbox problems. At 11:30 p.m. Italian time the qualifying session valid for tomorrow’s sprint race.
