Kevin Durant has extended his contract with the Houston Rockets until 2028. A $90 million two-year extension for the NBA champion, who arrived in the Texas city from Phoenix last July before becoming a free agent at the end of the upcoming season.

Durant becomes the new NBA recordman for net earnings, with 598.2 million from 2007 to date. He could have gotten a $120 million total extension, but opting for the newly signed deal allowed Houston more flexibility in the marketplace with the goal of winning the title.

37-year-old Washington native Kevin Durant in the NBA has played with the Seattle Supersonics (2007-2008), Oklahoma City Thunder (2008-2016), Golden State Warriors (2016-2019), Brooklyn Nets (2019 and 2023) and Phoenix Suns (2023-2025).

With Golden State he won two NBA rings in 2017 and 2018 and was MVP of the Finals in both cases. In 2014 he was MVP of the regular season. He is the NBA’s eighth all-time leading scorer with 30571 points. With the U.S. national team he has won four Olympic gold medals (record) and one world gold medal.
