MotoGP, Australian GP: immense joy for Fernandez, Bagnaia falls again

At Phillip Island, site of the Australian GP d’Fernandez’s talent shines. The 24-year-old Aprilia talent crossed the finish line first, earning his first career victory in the premier class. A new name in a race in which, of course, weighed the absence, due to injury, of reigning World Champion Marc Marquez.
On the podium as many as two Italians. Di Giannantonio, on the VR46 Ducati and starting from tenth position, finished in second place while Bezzecchi, despite the two long lap penalties, managed to make a comeback, taking a valuable third place finish. An excellent weekend for Bezzecchi who, after winning the Sprint, takes home a third place that certifies his’excellent moment of form.
Another nightmarish race for Bagnaia. The two-time MotoGP World Champion fell again. Yet another slip came with four races to go, when he was in a very modest 13th position. In the standings, thanks to the zero at Phillip Island, he was overtaken by Bezzecchi, slipping to fourth place in an increasingly bitter season. The Aprilia rider now has 282 points, eight more than Bagnaia.
Of note was the fourth place of Alex Marquez, who finished ahead of Acosta, Marini, Rins, Binder, Bastianini and Espargarò.
