Intervening at Sky Sports microphones, Jannik Sinner explained the decision to forgo the Davis Cup: “This year we decided so, me and my team. It is a difficult decision not to go to the Davis Cup, but in the’other sense the goal after Turin is to start off on the right foot in Australia”.

“An extra week sounds like a triviality, but it isn&#8217t, because it is very important to do a longer week–s preparation, explained the world number two. Then we also won it in 2023 and 2024, and that is also a factor, it was important to win it and this year we decided so”.

“Me unplayable? I don&#8217t know, maybe a little bit’more unpredictable– added the Blue – We&#8217re working on it a lot, it&#8217s a continuous work, I have the best possible team that is helping me to do just that. To beat the best you have to play almost perfect, there I succeeded (at the Six Kings Slam, ed.), now let’s see. There are important tournaments here, in Vienna, Paris and Turin, and they will be very important for next year as well. We try to do our best”.

In Vienna, Darren Cahill will be back in his box: “In the crucial moments, just mentally maybe, he is a coach who has so much experience, he knows very well any scenario on the court and also off the court, he is like a second dad for me, because I am in touch with him so much I am talking to him so much about how I feel and what is important for me, he is a key person for the whole team, we are all united, he and Simone (Vagnozzi, n.ed.) are different but the combination is incredible and it is a blessing to have them in the team”.
