Milan-Fiorentina: Rocchi agrees with'referee Marinelli on penalty kick

The AIA gives its verdict on one of the weekend’s hottest moviola cases: the penalty awarded to Milan for an alleged foul on Gimenez in Sunday night’s match against Fiorentina. Referee Livio Marinelli, and with him Var Rosario Abisso, had been bitterly criticized by the Viola coach Stefano Pioli and the lily-livered managers for the decision, but the top referees reanalyzing the episode have confirmed the foul and will not stop the match officials. This was reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
According to the AIA, Fiorentina defender Parisi disregards the ball and voluntarily extends his arm to stop Gimenez with a slight hold: the foul is there, although the reaction of the Mexican striker, who falls to the ground agonizingly accentuating the contact, was not appreciated by the referees.
Neither Marinelli nor Abisso will therefore be stopped despite Fiorentina’s strong protests, and they will be able to return to refereeing as early as next day.
