Allianz Powervolley Milan: presentation and renewed ambitions

Fiorenzo Galbiati

In Torre Allianz the official presentation of Allianz Powervolley Milano, which as per tradition takes place in the beating heart of the metropolis at CityLife, in front of a packed audience of authorities, sponsors, supporters and media representatives. All this less than 24 hours after the meneghini’s comeback victory over Valsa Group Modena.

“There are so many of you here, supporting us in this great passion of mine and yours called volleyball. I can’t help but start by thanking Maurizio Devescovi (general manager of Allianz S.p.A., ed.) for renewing the fundamental support for our activities. For our part, we always try to give our best. In the last three seasons we have achieved a fourth, a third and a fifth place, always gaining access to Europe. I think this is a boast for Milan, but now we want to start winning something,” noted club president Lucio Fusaro.

Then intervened for the City of Milan the Councillor for Sport, Martina Riva, the vice-president of Federvolley, Massimo Sala, and remotely, the president of Coni Lombardia, Marco Riva.

So with the Radio Number One speakers, who moderated the whole presentation with grace and skill, here is the catwalk of the 2025/2026 roster of Allianz Milano, which counts nine new names and five confirmations, combines youth, solidity and technical guidance of excellence. On the bench is Roberto Piazza, one of the best coaches in the world, an international reference figure and the protagonist of the growth of many champions. Sports director Fabio Lini has worked to refine, if possible, some fundamentals from last year. In the central department Edoardo Caneschi, Gabriele Di Martino, Nemanja Mašulović – back from his experience with Olympiacos and the World Cup with the Serbian national team – and young Alessandro Benacchio.

In the band space for responsiveness, elevation and spectacle with the return to Italy of Francesco “Checco” Recine and the confirmation of Japanese Tatsunori Otsuka. The only absentee is Belgian talent Seppe Rotty, already admired in Champions and World Cups, who must recover from an injury suffered in preseason. Rounding out the department is Tommaso Ichino, a big-bodied setter trained in the Diavoli Rosa.

The Milanese senior diagonal is among the strongest in the world, with the arrival under the Madonnina of Brazilian Fernando Kreling “Cachopa” and the confirmation of bomber Ferre Reggers, the team’s new captain, capable of dragging Belgium during the World Cup in the Philippines. Youth and lightheartedness for the two changes: setter Leonardo Barbanti and Finnish opposite player Veikka Lindvist, also present at the recent World Championships. For the second line, finally, a pair of frees among the strongest in SuperLega: Damiano Catania and Matteo Staforini.
