Lucia Bronzetti, negative streak continues: seventh loss in a row

Luccia Bronzetti’s difficult moment continues, eliminated in the first round also at the Guangzhou Open, a WTA 250 tournament with a prize money of $267,082 underway on the concrete courts of the Chinese metropolis (also known as Canton), capital of the Guangdong province.
The 26-year-old from Villa Verucchio, No. 91 in the world rankings, who last year had stopped in the semifinals after missing four match points against Dolehide, was beaten cleanly 6-1 6-2 in one hour and five minutes by Colombian Camila Osorio, No. 83 WTA, in her third win out of three direct confrontations with the Italian.
For Bronzetti this is the seventh consecutive defeat in a major circuit main draw. Her last success was in mid-August, in the third round of the Cincinnati tournament, when she overcame Jelena Ostapenko before surrendering in the round of 16 to Coco Gauff. Since then, the Italian has won only two matches in the Wuhan qualifiers, failing to reverse the negative trend.
