This was announced by the Italian Winter Sports Federation through an official note: “Marta Bassino was the victim of a fall during the women’s team training taking place in Val Senales (Bz) in preparation for Saturday’s World Cup opening giant slalom on October 25”.

“The 29-year-old Piedmontese from the Centro Sportivo Esercito, who was engaged in the second lap of the morning, was tackling a flat part of the Leo Gurschler slope when she fell victim to a slip– continues the FISI statement -. Immediately assisted by the FISI Medical Commission, she went to the hospital in Merano, where she underwent an x-ray that showed a lateral fracture of the tibial plateau of the left leg”.

“Marta underwent a follow-up CT scan that gave no further indication, confirming the fracture of the lateral tibial plateau of the left leg. Marta Bassino will reach the La Madonnina clinic in Milan in the coming hours where she will be operated on late in the evening or tomorrow morning by Dr. Andrea Panzeri, president of the FISI” Medical Commission.
