Marta Bassino: serious injury in training

Bad news for Azzurro skiing. Marta Bassino, in fact, suffered a serious injury during a training session in Val Senales just a few days before the start of the 60th edition of the Alpine Skiing World Cup, which will start on Saturday, October 25, in Soelden.

This was announced by the Italian Winter Sports Federation through an official note: “Marta Bassino was the victim of a fall during the women’s team training taking place in Val Senales (Bz) in preparation for Saturday’s World Cup opening giant slalom on October 25”.

“The 29-year-old Piedmontese from the Centro Sportivo Esercito, engaged in the second lap of the morning, was tackling a flat part of the Leo Gurschler slope when she fell victim to a slip– continues the FISI statement -. Immediately assisted by the FISI Medical Commission, she went to the hospital in Merano, where she underwent an x-ray that showed a lateral fracture of the tibial plateau of the left leg”.

“Marta is undergoing an additional CT scan in these minutes to further verify the extent of the injury, at the end of which the FISI Medical Commission will decide in agreement with the athlete how to proceed” closes the note.
