Fiorentina regains smile in conference league: tris at Rapid Vienna

After the mocking defeat to AC Milan that relegated it to the last place in the Serie A standings, Fiorentina regained victory in the Conference League, defeating the Allianz Stadion in Vienna. The Viola came out on top with a clear 3-0 win over Rapid Vienna thanks to goals from Ndour, Dzeko and Gudmundsson.

Sprint start by the guests, who found the lead after just nine minutes with a tap-in by Ndour, who took advantage of a clumsy rebound by Hedl on a Dzeko shot. On the half-hour mark Fiorentina had a gigantic chance but Piccoli ate the double only in front of Hedl.

The resumption opened with the Viola doubling: a low cross by Fortini from the right and a winning first-time shot by Dzeko. At 65′ the Austrians tried to open it again but De Gea and the crossbar denied Seidl the joy of goal. In the final there’s also glory for Gudmundsson who drops the hat-trick with a beautiful diagonal shot.

Thanks to this victory Fiorentina flies to the top of the Conference League single round standings with 6 points in the first two days. In the next round, coach Stefano Pioli’s men will face Mainz away on Thursday, November 6.
