Pisa coach Alberto Gilardino spoke on the eve of tomorrow night’s Serie A Week 8 fixture against top-ranked AC Milan at the San Siro. Here are his words.

“We have to take the field with great pride to be able to play in that stadium as a newly promoted team against the team that is first in the standings. Allegri is a great coach, a reference point for everyone, but we have to try to take points everywhere. We will need great humility and spirit of sacrifice in defense, but also great awareness and personality when we have the ball. Nothing is impossible in the world of soccer. We know Milan’s technical qualities well, but we have to try”.

“We will play two very close games, tomorrow at San Siro and on Thursday against Lazio, so I will need all the players in the squad and everyone has to be ready. If Milan has regained great defensive compactness, the credit is due to Allegri, who has also been good at enhancing the qualities of the mayors and has managed to give a winning mentality to this team: he is a reference point, a very prepared, winning coach who has been able to give identity and DNA to the Rossoneri”.

“Milan was a piece of my life, of my career. I experienced beautiful moments there, with the group of coach Ancelotti with whom we won a little bit’ everything. It is a beautiful memory of my growth after my experience at Parma. And Simoni was the coach who had the’intuition to make my Serie A debut at the age of 17 in Piacenza, throwing me in against the great champions who were then right in Milan”.
