Jannik Sinner won the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna, beating Alexander Zverev at the end of a not easy match. Not only because the German had won the first set, but also because of thigh discomfort reported at the end of the match by the South Tyrolean. Who in fact at the end of the match did not hide his great satisfaction.

“This victory makes me feel really good – admitted Sinner from the concrete court in Vienna -The final had started very badly for me, I had break points that I didn&#8217t take advantage of and in fact I found myself chasing. But I managed to stay glued to the match psychologically and play my best tennis when it was important to do so. The third set was a roller coaster, however, at times I really felt the ball very well. I tried to push and I am so happy to have won another title”.

Complicating the recovery after a difficult start, Sinner closed the score at 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 after 2 hours and 28 minutes of play. But in the decisive phase of the match he also had to deal with a thigh problem. Which he addressed like this: “The most important thing is to try not to give up and stay in the match. You have to read situations when they occur, the ending was complicated but I tried to make the right decisions at the right moments”.

“The key to beating Zverev today was that: serving well and saving energy for my serves. That was very important to make it through to beat him. Because the performance was of a high level from both of us”, Sinner then concluded.
