Flavio Cobolli’s path to the Paris Masters 1000 stopped in the second round: the Italian tennis player was defeated in two sets by the American Ben Shelton, who won with a score of 7-6, 6-3 in one hour and 34 minutes of play.

Making the difference was the American player&#8217s serve, virtually impregnable for the Roman athlete, who nevertheless defended well. The first set, dominated by the serves, was decided at the tie-break. In the second the U.S. placed the only break of the match in the sixth game: it was enough to take the lead and close the partial and the match.

Shelton netted 3 aces and scored 86% of the points with the first and 71% with the second, confirming his superlative batting performance. In the third round Shelton will face the winner of the match between Tien and Rublev.
