Golden Gala, specialties for 2026 unveiled
Fourteen specialties that award points to qualify for the Brussels final on Sept. 4-5, plus an additional competition to complete the program. The specialties have been made official for the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala, edition No. 46 of Italy’s premier meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, the fifth leg of the Wanda Diamond League.
At the Golden Gala, men will compete in the 100 meters, 110 hurdles, high, long, triple, weight and javelin, while women will compete in the 200, 400, 1500, 5000, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and pole, all specialties for which the world stars can earn points needed to advance to the final challenge in September that puts the Diamond Trophy up for grabs, even more important in a season without Olympic Games and World Championships outdoors.
At the Olympic Games, in addition, outside the ‘Diamond’program, the men’s 800 meters will also be run. When there are just over two hundred days left, the countdown has already begun toward an unmissable evening that will highlight many blue talents and many other champions from around the world, with a cast that promises to be as rich as ever.
