It&#8217s now very close to Italy&#8217s debut in the Quilter Nations Series: the national rugby team will face, on Saturday, November 8, at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine with kickoff at 6:40 p.m., one of the most traditional teams in world rugby, Australia. On the sidelines of the training sessions held at Otello Gerli Stadium, also in the capital of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Alessandro Izekor, an Azzurri flanker with Benetton, spoke.

“Australia is an uncomfortable opponent on all fronts – explained the 25-year-old from Brescia, who has been on the senior national team roster for a year -. We have focused a lot of preparation on their three-quarter line, because they are very dangerous. But the alertness is on everything: lineouts, scrums, open play. They are not an opponent to be underestimated, they have proven that recently.”

“I have not yet had the pleasure of playing against Australia – Izekor later recounted -, however, I remember the last game in Florence when I was in the stands. Seeing my teammates fight to the last and win in the last minute, as a fan of Italy, was a great emotion. It would be great to experience it as a player”.

The Azzurri player then wanted to thank the fans who ran to see Italy’s training session, “They always give us so much energy. It&#8217s always a great pleasure to have people in the stands, even if it&#8217s just for training, cheering for you. We have also been children and the autograph moment we always experience it with great excitement”.
