Luciano Darderi was quickly eliminated from the Athens ATP 250. The Italian-Argentinean, number 3 in the seeding and 26 in the ATP rankings, had his game rebuilt by Miomir Kecmanovic, world number 54, who won with a final score of 4-6 6-2 6-3 after almost two hours of play.

Darderi’s rocket start as he placed the break in the opening game and repeated it in the third game quickly taking a 4-0 lead. Kecmanovic tries to get back into the partial by recovering a break disadvantage but l’Azzurro at the second attempt closes the accounts on serve.

The opposite trend in the second set with the Serb taking away the Italian-Argentine’s serve in the second game, confirming the break (3-0). The third seed makes up for it in the fifth game (3-2) but suffers a partial break of three more consecutive games by Kecmanovic that puts the match back in perfect parity.

In the third and decisive set what made the difference was a single break, obtained at zero by Kecmanovic in the fourth game. In the last game Darderi has three chances to get back into the match but the Serb saves himself and closes on the first match point (6-3).
