San Siro, Beppe Marotta starts countdown for new stadium

On the day the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza officially became the property of AC Milan and Inter, Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta wanted to set a specific date for the construction of the new facility. In the intentions of the two clubs, everything must be completed by 2032, so that Milan can provide a venue for the European Championships.
“Today is a historic day for Milan, for the two Milanese teams and for the whole of Italy,– Marotta told Sky Sport, on the sidelines of the Champions League match between Inter and Kairat Almaty -. San Siro is an icon of the nation. The will of the two clubs is to build a stadium that reflects the standards of modernity in terms of reception, hospitality, security, attraction, and that represents a landmark in the area. Another goal is to redevelop this neighborhood, which is equally important for the city and the City of Milan. This operation, albeit among a thousand difficulties, will represent something extraordinary and will be an added value for the entire community”.
“I don“t want to get ahead of myself, however [the new stadium] will have to be ready for the European Championships– added Marotta. So, before 2032. I am sure there will be many climbs to climb, unfortunately Italy has this kind of bureaucracy, but we are not discouraged. Our ownership is very determined and as Inter we thank them for their tenacity in pursuing a goal that the club has been aiming for years. I am confident that we will go all the way”.
“It is clear that the stadium asset represents an asset enrichment, which brings economic and financial benefits. Box office revenue will also be increased, in light of the quality services that the club will be able to guarantee in every match. The concept of sustainability, however, must be pursued, not only through the stadium but also with the enhancement of our football movement” concluded the Nerazzurri executive.
