Franco Colapinto with the'Alpine again in 2026

After that of Pierre Gasly, in Alpine’s house, ahead of the start of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil, Franco Colapinto also signed his renewal for 2026. After starting this season as the French team’s third driver, the Argentinean driver was promoted to starter in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola in place of Jack Doohan. So far, however, he has never gone into the points zone.
Flavio Briatore: “I have followed Franco’s progress during his Formula 1 career and have always believed that he has the right qualities and potential to become a top driver who can grow together with the team. Our decision to continue together through 2026 is a clear indication of our commitment and strong support for Franco as he grows as a starting driver. It has been a difficult year for the entire team and not the easiest year in which to express themselves, however both Franco and Pierre have done their best to help put the team in the best possible position for the upcoming season. With Pierre and Franco’s lineup, we have a good mix of experience, speed and talent that will help move the team forward and hopefully give our fans something to cheer and shout about next season.
Franco Colapinto: “I am very grateful to Flavio and the entire team for the trust they have placed in me, helping to grow the team in the future. Since my debut in Formula 1, I knew that under the circumstances it would be a huge challenge to maintain my place in the sport. It has been a long and difficult journey, and I am very proud of the’opportunity to drive with this team again in 2026, alongside Pierre, who has been a great teammate and will undoubtedly be someone I can continue to learn from. Finally, it is very special and timely to make this announcement here in Brazil this weekend. Being so close to my home country, Argentina, is an event that I feel like a home race for me and where I receive so much support. Having so many fans on this journey with me and the team is why we go racing and next year, when there is a reset in Formula 1, hopefully we can give every single person who cheers for us something to smile about and really celebrate. Vamos Alpine!”
