Jannik Sinner speaks out on rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz

The anticipation for the 2025 edition of the ATP Finals, the final tournament on the men’s professional circuit, is growing day by day in Turin. One of the topics of the eve is certainly the sporting rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: the world’s best two tennis players, according to this year’s results and ranking, promise sparks even if it is the South Tyrolean himself who clarifies, once again, that the duality is confined exclusively to the court.
The rivalry has certainly evolved on the basis of the results of both – Sinner told official ATP channels.
The personal relationship, however, has not changed much: we have gotten to know each other well on and off the court, you could say we have grown together over the years. We often happen to train together and spend time talking about other topics as well, not just tennis”.
“Of course we know we are playing something important in every tournament we are both in– added the recent winner of the Vienna ATP 500 and Paris Masters 1000 -. Here at the Finals, then, we are at the’last tournament of the season, with even higher expectations. Whenever we play against each other, however, mutual respect is never lacking, and whatever the outcome, it always ends with a handshake”.
Winner of the 2024 ATP Finals, Jannik Sinner is seeking a second success that would allow him to join Bjorn Borg (champion in 1979 and 1980), Lleyton Hewitt (winner in 2001 and 2002) and Alexander Zverev (champion in 2018 and 2021). Alcaraz, on the other hand, is looking for his first Finals trophy: in 2023 he stopped in the semifinals against Novak Djokovic, last year he instead exited after the group stage, finishing behind Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
