After the heavy defeat against Sassuolo, Ivan Juric’s position on Atalanta’s bench again hangs in the balance. The Croatian coach, who has already been under observation for some time, may not be able to save his place even with the recent Champions League win against Marseille.

The lesson suffered by Berardi and his teammates and the situation in the standings fuel the feeling that the fate of the former Roma coach is now sealed and that a change in technical leadership is only a matter of time.

For the succession, the hottest names are two. In pole position is Raffaele Palladino, who, after declining Fiorentina’s offer for the post-Pioli-Pradè side, the Percassi family likes him very much for his ability to maintain the current tactical set-up and continue in the vein of the “Gasperini method.”

Lower in preferences, but still in consideration, is Thiago Motta: his arrival would allow Juventus to relieve itself of a still-budgeted salary after his exoneration, a hypothesis that remains open also because of the good relations between the two clubs.
