Novak Djokovic: the no to the ATP Finals to pursue other personal goals

Motivation is everything in tennis, just as it is in any other sport. Nole Djokovic, at 38, needs to find strong motivation to keep giving his all on the court. Many were surprised by his withdrawal from the ATP Finals 2025 in Turin (with “gift” to Lorenzo Musetti who took his place).
In reality, the decision is the result of a very clear plan. First, the Serb has already won the ATP Finals seven times (the’last triumph in 2023 over Jannik Sinner). No one has won more than him what was once the Masters. In short, he already has several trophies at home as ATP Finals champion.
In addition, Nole Djokovic has another clear goal, which is to try to become the tennis player with the most ATP titles in his career. Thanks to the victory at the ATP 250 tournament in Athens he has risen to 101 wins, -2 from Roger Federer and, most importantly, -8 from Jimmy Connors, the leader of this special ranking.
Of course, winning eight more tournaments is far from an easy feat, calculating the Serbian himself’s no longer green age, but, to have a chance, the important thing is to keep yourself at your best and not overdo it physically. And, by the way, already surpassing Roger Federer would be a sensational achievement. Nole Djokovic knows how to handle himself, he’s always done it great. No scandal, just “healthy” programming.
