Upside down at Benevento: exonerated Auteri, replacement is a former striker
Ribaltone on the bench at Benevento. The Campania-based club has decided to exonerate coach Gaetano Auteri after the team’s last victory in the Serie C championship against Foggia, which was beaten 3-0 last Sunday. The Stregoni, struggling for promotion, have decided to entrust the bench to Primavera coach Antonio Floro Flores.
This is the note from the Giallorossi club: “Benevento Calcio announces that it has relieved the Head Coach of the First Team, coach Gaetano Auteri, from his position. The conduct of the team is entrusted to coach Antonio Floro Flores. The club wishes to thank coach Auteri for the seriousness, dedication and passion with which he has led the team, recognizing his human and professional contribution and wishing him the best of luck for the continuation of his career”.
It’s the second exoneration in 2025 for Auteri, who was also torpedoed by Benevento last February before being recalled after five days. The decision reportedly came over disagreements with the ownership over the management of some players.
He was also dismissed.
