Jannik Sinner earned one of the two places available for the final act of the ATP Finals in Turin: at the Inalpi Arena, the South Tyrolean defeated once again Alex de Minaur (it is the thirteenth win out of as many direct clashes), who was able to hold his own against the world number 2 for almost a set before capitulating: 7-5, 6-2 the final score.

In the first fraction Sinner seemed to start off strong, but De Minaur managed to cancel a couple of break points, showing his desire to erase the “curse” linked to challenges with the’Alto Adige native. The latter, however, managed to bring the set to his side in an intense finale, with a break at the’eleventh game that just anticipated the 7-5 brought home after a full 67 minutes.

Completely different was the course of the second game fraction, dominated far and wide by Jannik Sinner. De Minaur lowered his serving percentages by a large margin and the blue took advantage, sailing comfortably to victory and closing the match with only two games lost in the last nine overall.

Sinner will then play his third consecutive final at the ATP Finals, following the one he lost in 2023 to Novak Djokovic and the one he won in 2024 against Taylor Fritz. The’opponent will come out of the second semifinal, scheduled for Saturday evening: on the court the’friend-rival of the South Tyrolean, Carlos Alcaraz, and surprise Felix Auger-Aliassime.
