World Cup Qualification 2026: Switzerland-Sweden, the likely lineups

Switzerland takes on Sweden on the penultimate day of Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Kickoff at 8:45 p.m. at the Stade de Geneve. The Swiss-Swedish side, leaders of the group with 10 points, aim to close the qualification talks for the rainbow event, while the guests, last with one point, are a foot and a half out of the World Cup.
Yakin is expected to rely on Sohm (Fiorentina) in the middle of the field along with Xhaka and Sow, with the’former Bologna man Ndoye, Embolo and Vargas making up the offensive trident. Defense headed by Akanji (Inter), Kobel between the posts. Injured Remo Freuler (Bologna) and Ardon Jashari (Milan) remain unavailable.
Potter, for his part, is certain to lose Gyokeres to injury and may also have to give up Isak, who was summoned but not in perfect condition. Therefore, in his 3-5-2, an attacking pair of Elanga and Zeneli is likely, with Bernhardsson and Gudmundsson on the flanks supporting the midfield formed by Karlstrom, Ayari and Svensson.
