Jannik Sinner, Darren Cahill’s words are more than a hint for the future

The good stuff, for Jannik Sinner, is yet to come: this was explicitly said by the Sexten-Sesto Pusteria phenom’s supercoach, Darren Cahill, on the sidelines of his victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the final act of the ATP Finals. And the possibility of a split between Cahill and Sinner, already dampened before Turin by Cahill himself, now seems increasingly remote.

“As I have said before on other occasions, we are working to make sure that Jannik plays his best tennis when he is 28, 29 or 30 years old – said Cahill in front of reporters in Turin -Already now he is very effective but, although it may seem hard to believe, the margins for improvement are still very high”.

“We are trying to learn from the best, studying the way Federer, Nadal and Djokovic– added Sinner’s supercoach -Our goal is to make sure that once Jannik is on the court he can apply as much pressure as possible to his opponent, to put him in trouble from the very first strokes”.

“The team and I are working to create the foundation for an extraordinary career – Cahill further explained – Already the victories we have achieved, however, are fantastic and to win in Turin in front of an Italian audience is even more so. The one against Alcaraz was a team victory against a fantastic tennis player. In the final they both gave everything, they played at a very high level”.
